This page shows awards and press articles that I have achieved as a result of my work

"A Breathtaking Plethora of talent"

"I was particularly impressed by the work of James Barnes, a graduating model maker. His skills are not just limited to model making, but also cover sculpting, arts and crafts and costume"

I have recently been featured in the September edition of the 'Wessex Muse Magazine' written by Tessa Watkins. The article talks about my work and others at the Bournemouth Arts Institute's graduating summer show.

I have recently won the BEST IN SHOW - RUNNER UP at this years New Blades Show 2008 as judged by members of the Professional Design Industry. This years New Blades Show saw 50 graduating modelmaking students spread over 2 floors of the Candid Arts Trust and welcomed exhibiting graduates for the Arts Institute at Bournemouth's BA (Hons) Modelmaking for Design and Media course and the University College for the Creative Arts BA (Hons) Modelmaking.

I think that it is important to pass on the knowledge and skills that I have learnt during the years, so I have run many workshops where I visit schools / colleges for the day and introduce modelmaking to young people and allow them to take part in an activity, whether it be sculpting, casting or making something. The school that I have close connections with is Ferndown Upper School. If you would like me to join your school for the day and introduce modelmaking to your pupils in a fun and enjoyable manner along with an activity then please contact me.
